HVAC Sheet Metal Installer (FLSA – Non-Exempt)


The installation of ductwork and air handling equipment for the purpose of heating, cooling and exhausting of buildings and machinery.


  • Demolition and installation of ductwork and equipment
  • Layout, detailing and assembly of duct systems including selection of materials and methods as required by blueprints and project requirements and specifications
  • Requires the use of hand tools, such as tape measures, snips, hammers, saws, and shears
  • Must be able to operate machinery including forklifts, plasma cutters, and scissor lifts
  • Light-gauge welding of steel and stainless steel and knowledge of working with plastics and fiberglass are a necessity for anyone with 4 years experience or more
  • Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Typical working conditions include: working on ladders, on rooftops, in crawl spaces, in unheated areas, and in all weather conditions



  • Must be proficient at mathematics to an 8th grade level
  • Minimum of four years of construction HVAC Sheet Metal experience or 4 year State approved apprentice program
  • Ability to frequently lift or carry 20 to 75 pounds
  • Ability to assist with or carrying up to 120 pounds
  • Physical requirements include: standing, bending, squatting, sitting, kneeling, lying down, crawling, climbing, and driving
  • Must be capable of working ten to twelve hour days when job/business needs demand
  • Must be able to work easily and skillfully with hands and fingers to reach for handle, and manipulate objects and materials
