The Pac RimSafety Promise

Safety First. Safety Always.

“Pac Rim’s project teams consistently demonstrate a deep commitment to the success of every project.”
Justin Harvey,

At Pacific Rim Mechanical, safety isn’t just a program—it’s a core value. From leadership to the field, safety is built into every decision we make. Every team member is empowered to speak up, make safe choices, and protect one another so that we can continually improve how we send people home safely.

And it’s not just us saying it—our safety program is award-winning and client-recognized, including the BNBuilders Safety Award, which honors our culture of care, discipline, and performance on some of the industry’s most complex projects.

Our Promise in Action

Creating a safe work environment for every employee is the first line of our mission statement—and the standard that guides every project.

Every team member has the authority to stop work if conditions are unsafe. With the right training, tools, and support, safe work is always possible.

Safety isn’t a statistic—it’s a skill that must be practiced. That’s why we provide regular, ongoing safety training on a wide range of topics, from fall protection and confined spaces to equipment handling and situational awareness. This commitment to continuous learning ensures our people stay sharp, confident, and ready to make the safe choice every time.

Our executives lead by example. Through monthly jobsite walks, leadership meetings, and the active participation of our Safety Leadership Team, safety remains a visible and ongoing priority across all operations.

Accountability here means care. We thank one another for catching risks, large or small, because every reminder prevents harm.

Creating a safe working environment takes continuous commitment and effort. We track near misses and encourage employees to report them so we can learn and improve together. By analyzing both lagging indicators (such as incident rates) and leading indicators (like proactive reporting and training participation), we strengthen our mission of continuous improvement and ensure our safety culture evolves with every lesson learned.

Organized = Safe

We believe a clean, organized job-site is the foundation of productivity and safety.

Safety in Action

  • Executive Safety Walks – Monthly jobsite walks by senior leadership reinforce that safety comes before everything.
  • Safety Leadership Team – Executive and field leaders who review incidents, implement improvements, and set expectations.
  • Safety Mind Meld – A collaborative forum where superintendents, safety staff, and field teams share solutions and lessons learned.
  • Monthly Safety Trainings – Hands-on, practical sessions that keep every employee informed, compliant, and prepared to work safely in changing environments.
Results That Matter

We reinforce a culture where safety is a shared responsibility and a point of pride. At Pac Rim, safety isn’t only promised—it’s proven. Our commitment to safety is consistently recognized—both by our clients and through internal programs that celebrate employees who exemplify “safety in action” every day.

TRIR, Dart, and EMR graphic

Experience Modification Rating: (EMR): A numerical rating system that measures the quantity of safety incidents with the severity of them, relative to the industry. A rate of 1.0 is considered the industry average. An EMR below 1.0 is considered a “good” or “favorable” rating as it reflects a safety record better than the industry. The further below 1.0, the better the rating. A favorable EMR demonstrates a commitment to workplace safety, enhancing a company’s reputation and attracting clients, partners, and employees.

Total Recordable Recording Rate (TRIR): a standardized metric used by OSHA that measures the frequency of OSHA-recordable workplace incidents for every 100 full-time employees over a one-year period. It provides a benchmark for companies to assess their safety performance and compare their safety record against industry averages. The industry standard is 3.0. A lower TRIR generally indicates better safety performance.

Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred: (DART): an OSHA-defined safety metric that measures workplace incidents resulting in days away from work, restricted duties, or job transfers, serving as a benchmark for a company’s safety performance and compliance with safety standards.
