Featured ProjectIsis PharmaceuticalsIsis Pharmaceuticals was a ground up, new construction of a 170,838 sq. ft., 2-story corporate headquarters which included labs, research spaces, administrative spaces, conference rooms, seminar and board room facilities. This design-assist project includes drought-tolerant landscaping, water features utilizing recycled water, outdoor dining and meeting spaces and a sports court for employee use. The building’s sustainable features will make it eligible for certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The project scope included HVAC, plumbing and process piping consisting of a 1,200-ton VPF central plant, seven-chemical solvent delivery/waste system and a 16,000 sq. ft. vivarium. Solvent delivery/waste system includes approximately 2,000 linear-feet of orbitally welded stainless steel piping, central solvent delivery, pumped waste recovery to central collection and complete instrumentation & automation system. This fast-track project was ready for occupancy 48 weeks after beginning site excavation. |
Current ProjectIlluminaThis design-assist project includes major renovations of two buildings on the Illumina San Diego campus. Building 1 is 180,905 square feet of office and laboratory. Building 2 is 166,798 square feet of laboratory and manufacturing with an extensive automated solvent delivery system. Scope of work includes HVAC, plumbing and process piping. |
Previous ProjectSony Electronics Corporate HeadquarterSony Electronics Corporate Headquarters project was the new construction of an 11-story, 455,000 sq. ft. office facility, 6-story adjacent parking structure and surrounding site amenities. The $150 million project accommodates 2,500 full-time employees. This project was built to achieve LEED silver status, incorporating a variety of energy and resource-saving measures. The building's heating, air-conditioning and lighting is controlled by motion sensors placed in "micro-zones" that shut down systems when individual zones are unoccupied. In an effort to save water while maintaining aesthetics, the condensation from the air handling equipment is accumulated and utilized as makeup water for a courtyard water feature and the cooling towers. Photovoltaic panels are placed on the roof of the parking structure, allowing the facility to generate a portion of its own power. The "aggressive schedule" was the project's most challenging element, basically doing $150 million worth of work in 15 months. Other amenities incorporated in Sony Electronics' new corporate building include a 10,000 sq. ft. fitness facility perched atop the nearby parking structure, a coffee bar located at the entrance of a pedestrian bridge on the third floor and a penthouse restaurant and dining area. Pacific Rim provided design-build mechanical and plumbing systems on this project. |
